On the evening of 23 August 2025, CGISA CEO Stephen Sadie joined Newzroom Afrika to weigh in on governance challenges at South African Tourism.
He highlighted the critical role of the company secretary in upholding sound governance, stressing that the company secretary does not report to the CEO. Accordingly, any suspension of the company secretary may only be effected through the board.
Sadie also commented on Tourism Minister Patricia de Lille’s decision to dissolve the SA Tourism board, a move that has drawn criticism from industry stakeholders. The Minister’s decision followed the board’s suspension of its CEO, Nombulelo Guliwe, on charges of misconduct.
